Step Up programme has begun. Sian~

Need to start lessons again and prepare for Sec 4, while the lower sec are having fun with post-exam activities. Our post exam activities are studying -.- Though there are no afternoon lessons for the Step Up programme, the time table really is.. boring. Its like almost the same lessons everyday. Seeing the same teachers everyday.

School is supposed to end on 30th Oct, but for the us it will be till 6th Nov due to the programme. Moreover, there's still Bio lessons everyday from 9-13 Nov! So my actual holiday starts on 13 Nov..

I think it will really be hard to find time for working. Can't even work for a month. Lol who will hire me man?

I think the only solution would be after O's..

Chemistry~

Lit~

For chem, was quite satisfied with Paper 1, but not so for paper 2. Paper 2 could have done better if I be less careless, and also studied more.

For Lit, was low. The paper was upon 50. And no one scored above 30. Only one 30 and the rest were 20+... So LOW. Sigh. Lit is so difficult to score high man!

Well, I guess my most shocking results was SS. I thought I would either fail or border line pass. Because I had almost not enough time to complete everything. I didn't write conclusions for both essays. I rushed through the last 2 SBQs too. And guess what, the paper is upon 50 marks, and in the end I got like 34.. Its considered low in my class since so many got 35 and above.. But to me I was like, lol.. My humanities all the while not very good one. For the last 2 SBQs, both was 7 marks each. I used about 10-15mins to complete this total 14 marks! So I rushed through this 2 questions, without even thinking much. I just scribbled what comes to mind immediately. Lol and in the end, I got one 6 marks, and 5 marks. I thought I would fail these 2 questions. Really surprising man~!

Next, about my phone.. K I gave up my old phone, W880i. It really pisses me off. I didn't save my contacts into the sim card, so, I lost all my contacts even though I changed to another phone. And I have so many contacts.. Now, I'll have a "great" time getting back all these contacts.. That really sucks.. Damn waste time. Why didn't I learn to autosave into sim card back then? I'm so funny. Yeah funny huh? K this time, for sure I'm gonna auto save the contacts into the sim card to prevent this scenario from happening again..

I'm damn pissed off now. My freaking phone can't be turned on. ZZZZZZZZ. F it.

I was trying to restart my phone just now. After I off it, I tried to turn it on again. But it can't turn on. All it has is this damn red light flashing at the keypad C. Wonder what is wrong with it.

Kay, I use my phone as alarm clock too. But now, I'm relying on this small little alarm clock.. I don't use alarm clocks because I find them not reliable. Sometimes they just don't ring. However, now I have no choice. Lol.. I'll just have to trust this small little blue alarm clock. Hope it rings @6.30am tmr..

Damn, I hate this few months man.. The Sun always shine into my room when its about 4pm in the afternoon. And it shines onto my table and my chair, where I'm sitting to use the com. Make till my laptop so freaking hot.. I think I'll shift myself out to the living room..

Anyway, I went swimming in the morning today. And its so crowded! So I didn't really swim much, but at least I completed my 10 laps of 50m.. Was tired, so I took a nap from 2 to 4 plus.. Woke up now, and decided to blog.

I should be blogging everyday this few days.. Cos I'm so damn free~ Watched just now on PPS, and its damn clear! High Definition. Its funny and ridiculous too! I think the show is NC16 because there's some sexual references.. It ended with so many naked people as audiences.. LOL.

Ok. Time doesn't fly as usual. Its passing so slowly after exams... so slow so slow..

I'm freaking bored~

I hate this feeling after Exams! I feel very ... blank!

Its like I don't have a routine or.. I don't know what to do after doing something..

Like after watching TV, I don't know what to do now.. That kinda feeling you know.. Damn sian one lei!

Before exams better sia, got homework and everything to occupy myself one after another. But now, so free, too free indeed.. I can now feel how painful it is without anything to do!

Damn, next time become senior citizen is it also like that de?? Sharks. I don't want sia..

Although before exams I already thought of doing many things after exams, but now like.. don't feel like it.. After exams, my whole person now become damn lazy... I need some motivations~

Sec 3s have step up programme~ So for us, school will end on 6th of November, instead of 30th of October.. That's saddening, but also good in other words.. I'll still be occupied with school.

Kay I suddenly started Dota again after months.. Its ok, I won't get hook to it. Treat it as leisure only..

EOY is ending!! I'm only left with physics paper 1 and chem paper 1! 60 MCQs!

I think I can't score A1 for my sciences already.. I have some explanation questions that I don't know how to do! And then I any how write.. hopefully can get at least some marks ba..

I think I'll score a so-so in my chem and physics, maybe a below average for Bio... Guess the only thing I'm satisfied is E-maths and A-maths this time bah..

Nvm, what's over is over! One exam doesn't determine anything, like my bro said. This exam even if do very well, or do very averaged, still the same, get promoted to Sec 4E. Yeah, so be more optimistic! :D I'm off to relaxxxxx.

Sleep Cycle.

Understanding sleep stages and the sleep cycle can help you get better sleep. Your sleep is regulated by an internal body clock, sensitive to light, time of day and other cues for sleep and awakening. When you fall asleep, your sleep goes in cycles throughout the night, moving back and forth between deep restorative sleep and more alert stages and dreaming. As the night progresses, you spend more time in dream sleep and lighter sleep.

There are two main types of sleep. REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep is when you do most active dreaming. Your eyes actually move back and forth during this stage, which is why it is called REM sleep. Non-REM (NREM) sleep consists of four stages of deeper and deeper sleep. Each sleep stage is important for overall quality sleep, but deep sleep and REM sleep are especially vital.

Stage 1 (Drowsiness) - Stage 1 lasts just five or ten minutes. Eyes move slowly under the eyelids, muscle activity slows down, and you are easily awakened.
Stage 2 (Light Sleep) - Eye movements stop, heart rate slows, and body temperature decreases.
Stages 3 & 4 (Deep Sleep) - You’re difficult to awaken, and if you are awakened, you do not adjust immediately and often feel groggy and disoriented for several minutes. Deep sleep allows the brain to go on a little vacation needed to restore the energy we expend during our waking hours. Blood flow decreases to the brain in this stage, and redirects itself towards the muscles, restoring physical energy. Research also shows that immune functions increase during deep sleep.
REM sleep (Dream Sleep) – At about 70 to 90 minutes into your sleep cycle, you enter REM sleep. You usually have three to five REM episodes per night. This stage is associated with processing emotions, retaining memories and relieving stress. Breathing is rapid, irregular and shallow, the heart rate increases, blood pressure rises, males may have penile erections, and females may have clitoral enlargement.

Each stage of sleep offers benefits to the sleeper. However, deep sleep is perhaps the most vital stage. It is the first stage that the brain attempts to recover when sleep deprived, and the strongest effects of sleep deprivation are from inadequate deep sleep. What might disrupt deep sleep? If you are caring for someone around the clock, whether it is a small infant or an elderly relative with a serious illness, you might need to attend to them suddenly in the middle of the night. Loud noise outside or inside the home might wake you. If you work the night shift, sleeping during the day may be difficult, due to light and excess noise during the day. Substances like alcohol and nicotine also disrupt deep sleep.

Maximize your deep sleep. Make sure your sleep environment is as comfortable as possible and minimize outside noise. If you are being awakened as a caregiver, make sure that you get some time of uninterrupted sleep, especially if you have had some unusually disruptive nights. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.

REM sleep, or dream sleep, is essential to our minds for processing and consolidating emotions, memories and stress. It is also thought to be vital to learning, stimulating the brain regions used in learning and developing new skills. Most of dreaming occurs during REM sleep, although it can happen during other sleep stages as well. There are different theories as to why you dream. Freud thought that dreams were the processing of unconscious desires. Today, researchers wonder if it may be the brain’s way of processing random fragments of information received during the day. Much of dreaming is still a mystery. If REM sleep is disrupted one night, your body will go through more REM the next to catch up on this sleep stage.

Today's morning was greeted by raining..

One week of exam have past. There's another one week more to go! Next Tuesday and Wednesday will be harsh.. 4 Paper 2s! Firstly, E-Maths paper 2, Bio Paper 2, and then A-Maths paper 2, Chem paper 2!

This 2 days will be really tiring.. But after Wednesday can relax already.. Because there's no paper on Thursday, and there's only Physics paper 1 and Chem paper 1 on Friday. Woah and its the end of EOY!!!

After exam, I really make this holiday an enjoyable and meaningful one. Because its the "last" holiday before O's. In sec 4, there won't be really any more holidays.. So, take this holiday seriously and enjoy it!

I gotta go and study Chem! Shall finish my revision on Chem today!

Got back E-Maths paper 1 today.. Mr. Ang mark damn fast man.. We did it on Tuesday, and he returned us 2 days later. And guess what.. When he showed us the class list with all the marks keyed in, I got like damn low on the class list. Then after today's exam, he came in and return us the paper for us to check, I checked and what -.- Count less 10 marks! I should get 10 marks more la.. Before that I kept on thinking about it sia, how come can get so low de.. 想来想去也想不到.. And now.. 真相大白! Haha. K and anyway, was damn careless in the paper too.. But ya, everyone will be careless also, it just depends on how careless are we.

Next, today's Physics paper 2. Sigh, I screwed up the mercury barometer part. I also screwed up some other questions like... those definitions question. But there are reasons for me screwing up these questions.. I admit that I didn't really study enough before the paper.. I only studied like the night before.. What I thought would come out didn't come out, and what I thought didn't come out came out. So.. what a waste man.. But, its alright. This is not the end of the world. The most important is O-levels.. I had rather do badly now than doing badly in O's..

Tomorrow will be Bio paper 1. I think I need to study more already after going through these scenarios...

Tomorrow's paper - English Paper 2 and Social Studies.

So.. I'm revising SS now, yeap. There'll be 4 SBQ, 3 Essays questions. Will need to choose one essay question, and there's 2 parts for each question, one 12 marks, the other 13 marks, and they are added up to 25 marks. Let's predict some of the essay questions.. I think the SBQ will be on chapter 3? And the essays are chapter 2 and 4?

Hey~

Damn. Had attire check today. Zzzz.. I bet most of the school population dislikes attire check. But the school still needs to do that, to maintain their school rules.

I just woke up now, after taking a nap from 4 to 6. Yes, feeling quite blur and dumb. I feel like just lying my head down and sleep again. But I can't, I gotta study! Tomorrow will be the first paper of English and Chinese! Let's put a mark on my pen ink now, and see how much ink I've used after both papers. xD My experience tells me that one whole examination will take about.. 3/4 of a new pen ink? Should be somewhere around there... I shall finish my Chem homework, and start revising on English and Chinese compos!

Hey people~

Went swimming after school today. Its been really long since I last swam.. Maybe last year. I didn't know its so cheap for swimming, only 50 cents per person for child ticket.. Ok shall go swimming more then. Lol. Well, I swam 10 laps continuously today, 50m each lap, which means 500m only.. But before that, we also swim a few times here and there, but we stop after each lap, so in front not counted.

Well, and after that, left the pool at 4. I realized that I'm more tanned now.. Like much more.. I think I get tanned very easily.. hehe. K so went to the toilet and took a shower. Dry myself and everything, but my hair still wet, so I went to use the hand dryer to dry my hair.

Now I'm freaking tired.. Because its like N years since I swim. I can doze off anytime man...

Tomorrow there's still Physics lesson arhzz.. needa wake up early again... sigh.

Weather: Cloudy and Sunny

Went out with family from 10am to 4pm today~

Firstly, went to whitesands Ya Kun, as usual. Drank coffee and ate kaya toast.
Ok then we bought groceries at NTUC and carried back home. Then went to Orchard! Parked our car at Lucky Plaza's carpark. When I walk into Lucky Plaza, is like Malaysia seh.. And somemore is so crowded, people mountain people sea!
K then went to Isetan at another buidling, and Mum bought some kitchen wares. After that walked to Ion Orchard. Inside damn big sia!! I'll go there and walk around after exams! The toilet also very nice, its large, clean, dry, and odourless. K lets skip to lunch. Ate at Food Opera, its the Ion Orchard's food court. People mountain people sea again.. Its damn crowded..
After a while of waiting, finally found empty seats. I bought this food called Dory fish in Hot Plate.. $6! Not cheap eh?? But I think I'll rate the food 8/10, because after eating really very thirsty.. Lots of MSG..

Weather today - Raining cats and dogs.

Wanted to go swimming today actually, but it rained again!!! ZzZ. Its the last day of 7 month today, so it will also be the last day for the swimming pool being so empty...
People say that if you go swimming during seven month, there will be something that pull your leg and make you drown?? I'm not really superstitious so I don't really believe la..
This week been pretty fast, like the usual. EOY exams time table is out!!! First exam starts on 29 Sep, which is the week after next week's Tuesday. After which, there will be normal lessons again.. and then, exams will be all the way from 5 Oct to 16 Oct~ Lets fight my way through during this period of time! I've counted. There's a total of 17 papers to be taken!!

And there's also Step Up programme for 2 weeks for the Sec 3s after exams.. What?! We're learning dancing? Hip Hop? or Modern dance? or Ballet? Lol.. Its actually just simply doing revisions for the past topics we've learnt.. Sadded right.. After exam still need to study. But the real one is not over yet, and its 1 year away still. So the real celebration should be after O-Levels!!! When we all can put everything down and celebrate like no body's buisness!

Its so fast! I can still recall the day when I first enrolled into Coral Secondary School as a Sec 1 student.. Being so unfamiliar with everything..

Alright, I've finished watching Boys Over Flowers already.. 25 episodes.. Its a nice drama.

Next, I'm gonna watch a Hong Kong drama called 绝代商骄. Its also a very nice and funny drama.
The first episode already made me laugh my ass off.. LOL. Its a very new drama too. Came out recently only, and the episodes are still on going on the internet. xD

Holidays are ending in 2 days time~ I'm left with A-Maths.

Went to watch Turning Point (变节) yesterday. It's a Hong Kong production, and for those who watched 学警狙击 or 学警出更, there's some relations, because Laughing哥 is the spy again! Similar to 学警狙击, overall, its also about sending spy. But this movie has a slightly different plot. I think its not bad, so I'll rate it 8/10. But for those who haven't watch this type of dramas or movies before, it may be a bit difficult for you to understand.. But its also easy to understand if you analyze a bit. There's some violence too, but its quite cool!

Had Chemistry SPA 1 today.

Woke up @ 7.20am. And reached there @ 7.48am. I thought I'm punctual. Lol but when I reached there, I was the latest one! -.- Haha.. K got back progress report too... My English got C6 and combine humanities got C5! Shit man..
During the SPA, I got deducted 1 mark, because I didn't remove the filter funnel when I was titrating.. Sigh. Nvm, its alright. Its just 1 mark. Get 9/10 bah.. lol..

Went to study at Mac again, from 1pm to 6pm. Did maths for 5 hours!! My brain's damn tiring now.. I feel like sleeping...

Tomorrow have to wake up at 7.30am againnnnnnnnn...... for Maths lessonnnn......... Siannnnn...

I'm starting to dislike holidays..

THERE'S SO MUCH HOMEWORK!!!!! 99999999 x (10 to the power of 9999999) TONS..

There's much more homework for September holidays compared to June holidays, even though its only one week, compared to 1 month! This is crazy.. There's home based learning, and also worksheets and stuffs given out by teachers from every subject, which means there's homework for every subject. Perfectly normal for holidays, but not the amount of it.. By looking at the amount of it, I think I'll have to do at least a few hours of homework every single day in order to complete them. But no matter what, I'll still finish them, even if there's more to it. I guess I'll be fully occupied by homework for this holiday. But I'll still go out of course, hang out, exercise, leisure, entertainment. Well, I think its a test of our ability of time management...

Anyway, there's O-Levels SPA (Science Practical Assessment) on Monday already!! Its on Chemistry..most probably it'll be on titration. But its alright, we have ample exercise on it already, so lets all be confident to score 10/10 for it! And people, please remember to bring your IC and calculator!!! For those who is first shift, report at 7.45am outside chem lab. K all the best, to me and to you all!

Hey hey hey!

Finally some time to update my blog..

Had been busy this few days, because I'm playing a game called study! Mostly maths homework, and also tests this few days. There's 2 tests today, and one tomorrow. Today's test is A-Maths Chapter 1,2,3 and Chemistry test chapter 10. Today's test was quite alright. Tomorrow's test will be on Biology Chapter on Transport in Humans!!! Yeah, so I need to memorize quite a lot tonight. Anyway, the past 2 days, I've been going to Whitesands Mac to do study from 8-11pm.. Its quite productive for me.. Cos I won't get distracted there.. At home there's too much distraction.. Laptop, sweating, toilet, drinking water, and the bed. At mac, can just concentrate in doing work.. And I didn't stop doing eh.. Continuous doing from 8-11, without even moving my butt.. haha. I guess I'm a bit addicted to doing work now! Cos I feel like doing now -.- K nvm, since I have the motivation and inspiration to do now, lets just do.. I'll do the new Chemistry TYS book which I just received today. :D I think'll I'm going to Mac later again..Lol.

Its the eve of Teachers' Day today! So....Happy Teachers' Day!!!

I joined the inter-house skipping competition, so had to meet @ 7am at the court.

Well.. Thinkers had 14 people skipping. 7 guys, 7 girls. At first, the first house who reach 2000 times will win. But after that, it was changed to the house will most number of skips, means we'll have to keep on skipping until 9am, from 8.15am. Thinkers is the first to reach 2000 skips eh!!! But no use, in the end, we got third. I thought we'll get first la, but got third, and I have no idea why... I think I contributed around 500 skips? And after skipping, my both shoulders became soar..maybe I too long didn't skip already.

Assembly programme, the most hilarious part was the guys dancing for the song Nobody. Damn joke!!! xD Ok after assembly, went home to change another thinkers shirt and long pants. Cos I'm too sticky and sweaty.

Took bus to Gongshang Primary School~!! The canteen was packed with alumnis, from all different secondary schools and different levels ranging from sec 1 to 5? Ok anyway, everything was so low..The water cooler, the canteen stalls, the tables and benches.. So I went around looking for my pri sch classmates, and only found a few..So we chat, about everyone, how much they've changed. Anyway, almost everyone changed, all of them grew taller, while some grew fatter, some slimmer.. And the guys' hairstyle all changed to all those which are so fashionable.. Lucky it didn't turn out to be as bad as I thought.. We got along quite well like last time after not seeing each other for so long, like 3 years?

Ok its time to update my blog~

Week 9. Oh my, very quickly, its gonna be the E.O.Y exams again.. Then we'll all have to mug and mug and mug. Physics is a bit of confusing.. The thermal chapter. So many formulas. What heat capacity, latent heat of fusion, latent heat of vaporisation, and quantity of heat. And Biology, so many complicated terms in the human transportation chapter.
Anyway, I'm finally returning back to CCA after 2 months :D. I'm going to transfer to cca team, hehe. So I don't have to spend so much time on cca now, cos its only once a week. I think I wouldn't have returned if not for my mum, which told me to go back for cca points.
School is fun, because I laughed a lot, and I had fun in school too. There's always funny things happening around, haha.
CCA's on friday will be on 2-4, so I think I'll go gym after cca straight away, since I always go on Tuesdays and Fridays. And I hardly have time on other days. Wednesday and Thursday are long days.
I'm watching Boys Over Flowers episode 16.. 9 more episodes to go~! Then I can watch another interesting and funny hong kong drama!

Recently, I've been sleeping rather early. Have been sleeping @ 10.30 every night! The reason is because:

SPI Hungry Ghost Eve Investigation 2006
Locating the Hell-gates (Portals) of Hungry Ghosts

In 7th month every year, it is hard to miss the swirling fragments of banknotes, addressed to hell, yet paradoxically drifting skywards. Joss sticks sprout like wildflowers. The meandering veil of incense paints an image of the languid "brethren" ruminating over the staid confections by the roadside. In modern Singapore, such cultic activities filled every corner of our neighborhood. Is it just a matter of cultural belief, or something more? What are these Hungry Ghosts? Are they facts or fictions? One of the important investigation missions in SPI during Hungry Ghost Month is pivoted on exploring what Hungry Ghosts really are. In particular, the related concept of "Hell Gate" or a portal through which the ghosts transport from the other dimension to here. How is a portal? Does it exist in reality or merely in myth? SPI checks it out.

Introduction

On the eve of the hungry ghost month, July 25 of 2006, an experiment has been performed by SPI that had not been attempted elsewhere to investigate the element of a 'hell gate' as perceived by believers worldwide. It has been said that this gate of hell will be opened on the eve of hungry ghost month letting loose a wave of spirits onto the living world to feast upon food offerings and burning incenses provided by the relations of the deceased. To verify upon this claim, SPI had enlisted the service of members hailing from the psychic, gadget and film footage areas of expertise in order to address the question whether such a spiritual portal exists singularly or in multiples especially to determine its location and direction. This is what SPI had set out to do to search for answers from a fusion of metaphysical and scientific means driven by its motto "Solve the unsolved, exPlain the unexplained, and Investigate into the unknown". Only then will SPI know for certain if this 'hell gate' is merely symbolic or true. The members involved from the psychic team was Azri, who is in his late teens having learnt the bomoh craft in Indonesia since young as well as Cahaya, a precision mechanical engineer, who is blessed with the ability to see and communicate with the paranormal. From the gadget team is Wired, who a polytechnic student is majoring in electrical and electronic engineering, and other seasoned paranormal investigator proficient in the use of SPI gadgets. The team responsible for filming the event for documentation purpose is Kenny, the founder of SPI along with Rina.

Investigation

The appointed time SPI arrived on the scene at Bukit Brown Cemetery was 10:30pm where a designated place was chosen at the centre of cemetery known also to be one of the highest hill peaks believed to emit a strong spiritual energy. The ritual was conducted on a quiet and lonely stretch of road in which the focus of the experiment is to investigate from both spiritual and scientific aspects on the alleged 'hell gate' phenomenon. Hence, the psychic team will execute a special ritual aided by an array of gadgets to capture any paranormal evidence that will determine the direction and position of any spiritual portal.

It is hoped that this experiment will shed some light on bridging subjective paranormal experiences (such as seeing or feeling the presence of the hell-gate portal by psychic) and objective existences by recording some hard footages or readings.

To prepare the ritual, Azri created a small 'spiritual path' on the road that was marked by three yellow candles of varying sizes from large to small in succession. Then, a number of spiritual artefacts were placed on a centrepiece including some ancient coins which are believed to house spirits, slices of lime, a seven-coloured string, a metal nail with cotton threads attached, a Chinese coin and a special ring. These artefacts act as a magnet to attract spirits wandering in the vicinity and also to maintain order among them. Other items like incense and camphor were used as food offerings for the spirits.

The main piece of the ritual was a sacred parang or machete that was believed to be used by an ancient warrior fought in battles long ago and being an epitome of death possesses strong spiritual power. Blood seeped from Azri's cut hand was smeared onto the blade to activate its power as a form of channelling during the chanting where his mind and words were focused along the blade to its tip. This ritual was taught to him by his Indonesian bomoh master used to summon any spirits without fail, which Azri was attempting to do. Once the ritual preparation was completed, the SPI team retreated to a safe distance as a precautionary measure while waiting for one hour hoping for the spirits to emerge on the intended spot. It was mentioned by a Taoist priest that the calculated time for hell-gate to open would be 11:30pm for this particular season, which the SPI members were waiting for the clock to strike at that time.

The following gadgets were used to record empirical measurements for scientific analysis at the site with the hope of capturing some solid evidences of the paranormal:

* Non-contact temperature laser gun
* Two infra-red recording cameras; they faced two different directions trying to capture whatever entities that may come near to the ritual ground centrepiece.
* EMF meter; it was put near the centrepiece where the entities supposed to come and feed on the food.
* Flour powder; a simple but most effective item to capture footprints of entities, which was poured right next to the candle lit path that was supposed to guide the spirits to the centrepiece and food offerings.

Results

Upon commencement of the ritual while SPI waited some distances away, several paranormal instances had occurred as listed below:

Paranormal #1. The temperature gun recorded a very unusual temperature fluctuation of a ritual coin. The temperature dropped from 25.5C to 13.3C, and then bounced back to 26C. The drop and rise happened only in a matter of few seconds. This is almost impossible for such acute temperature changes, let alone in such a short time. The copper coin was believed to contain a spirit that may have absorbed and released surrounding energies too. Azri explained such sudden fall and rise in temperature was attributed to the coin spirit sensing the presence of other nearby spirits nearby that excited it.

Paranormal #2. When the chanting was completed, the time hit 11:30pm whereby the hell gate was supposed to open and so we moved 60 meters away and observed from a far. Strange howling was heard, not once but twice. The first howling was short-lived and was heard when Azri started preparing the ritual. The howling escalated, when we left the food centrepiece alone. It sounded like a sad mourning, which was definitely not the sound of a bird or bat, coming from no tree. They came from behind the tombs just behind the ritual's location. They sounded as if the ambience was crying. We used the long-distance sound enhancer to pin-point the source of sounds and confirmed that.

Paranormal #3. A mysterious foot-print was found on the flour powder. It was like a human bare foot but more than that. The shape looked like a human foot for there were toes, an arch and the ball shape in the heel. The distinct feature however was the centre foot-print, which showed some scale like patterns. Human foot palm is smooth and almost flat. The footprint details can be viewed in the following photo.

Although the video footage on the event has not been analysed yet, SPI knew for certain that moving shadows were expected at the site based on past paranormal investigations. Later, Cahaya was asked on his opinion about the event looking through his 3rd eye, which he stated:

"In the beginning when we first stepped into the cemetery, I sensed there are many spirits there already. They are the natural spirits. Nothing hostile, nothing chaotic. But there are many of them. So they are already here even before the Chinese said the hell gates open. During Azri was doing the ritual, I noticed something unusual. They multiplied. They came in huge numbers and they were more active than before. A lot of movements, from tree to tree and tomb to tomb. They are everywhere, and seemed to have come from all the different directions."

"The sudden surge of activities started to happen from the moment Azri started chanting (which Azri mentioned, when asked by Kenny, that the chant was a set of secret phrases meant to summon and had being verbally passed down through the generations till it reached him via his master in Indonesia). As the chant was said out, the activities of the spirits peaked."

"(Kenny later asked, what kinds of spirits are they?). The spirits are just energies that take invisible form. Our normal eyes cannot see them. But can only feel them in our mind. Sometimes it works better when I close my eyes even. I sense images of them in energy form in my mind where the energies take shape, sometimes of a human, sometimes of just a creature, with some indefinite shape. But you know that they are alive creatures. They were excited because there were FOOD for them!"

"(Then Kenny asked again, are they the hungry ghosts in Chinese context?) Cahaya frowned. He said, "I know them only as jinns (demons) or spirits, some creatures from the other world, their intention is to feed on food. It is just like you dump a large piece of meat in an Africa jungle, then surrounded by many hungry tigers. You don't know what breeds the tigers are. You only know they can move, they want to eat, they have lives and they are hungry and excited. Throughout the year some people can see them. Not necessary only during hungry ghost month you can see so."

Kenny turned to ask Azri, what ritual did you do? What is the purpose of the ritual? Azri said that:

"The ritual is a fool-proof ritual he learnt from Indonesia, being able to summon any kind of spirit. This time, he was only calling them for a feast. That is the purpose. And they came very responsively. They came in a huge crowd that is much larger in amount than usual. Azri added, when I was chanting I felt their presence and their demands. I tried extra hard at the end of the chant to throw all my focused-mind to them until I became very exhausted. Why? There are just too many! Just like for example, when you stand in front of a very large crowd and wanted to talk to them, you need to raise your voice to peak in order to get them heard."

Indeed, large beads of sweat were seen on his forehead to confirm that he was totally drained out after the ritual, which was thought to be a simple prayer much to the surprise of Kenny.

Conclusion

In conclusion, what exactly is Hell Gate in the 7th month? How many of them were there? When consulting the two psychics, Azri and Cahaya, individually and separately, they both concluded that there are many "doors" sprouted around. Having no understanding of the Chinese 7th month culture, they described the portal as doors, which emerged everywhere in large numbers from all directions, either on the air or ground.

This description is analogous to a feast set in a centre of town calling for every human denizen to come join the food festivity and people come pouring forth with eagerness from every opening door of the town houses. On this aspect, the cemetery is like a paranormal town accommodating every tomb house, which spirits opened their doors from their supernatural domain or residence to join in the feast provided by SPI.

It may be a matter of coincidence that the psychics were not keeping the time but Azri's chanting ended exactly at 11:30pm, the time Taoist calculated Hell Gate to open. Furthermore, they verified that a very high surge of supernatural activities occurred just after the chanting ended at 11:30pm! According to them, the spirits certainly looked hungry. Indeed, portals, hell gates or doors may be just terms in the human language but it was told that there were certainly many of them appearing from different directions, which suddenly become opened for entities to come forth in huge numbers at 11:30pm sharp. Does this particular time only happens on the 7th month for spirits to be unleashed or it is something that occurs on a nightly basis on any other month? SPI investigation continues…

During 7th month, the hell gates open and the hungry souls roam out. The legend is passed down from generation after generation. This story exists in both Taoist and Buddhist, though in different versions. This experiment takes a step reinforcing the existence of spirits in the eve of hungry ghost month. They are believed to be "hungry" thus got attracted to food offering. They showed their presence by signs scattered across SPI footages. Whether you believe it or not, you should show respect.

As time was closing to 11:30pm, in a bushed cemetery hill water vapours became heavier. It might be normal that such atmospheric change attributes to the sensation of more "chaos", "quantity multiplied", etc. Also, if orbs and light balls in digital photos and infra-red photos respectively are debunked to be reflection of water droplets in air, the greater chance by which SPI captured such photos makes sense.

Then for the night vision photos that allegedly captured the portals, the hazy lights look like lens flare which is a very common thing in photography. (c.f. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lens_flare). Depending on the lens coating, lens flare usually scatter across the lens in circular shapes resembling some eerie ghostly lights. Aren't the lights in the photo which is believed to be a ghost portal just a result of lens fare?

Regarding the footprint found on the flour path, it could be imprinted by a tangki (Taoist medium) who paraded around cemetery. It is popular that temple fellows would come into cemeteries in bulks by lorries. It wouldn't be surprised if a tangki so happen to come across SPI's investigation station, he curiously came near and left his footprint. Those tangkis were known to be shoeless. Yes, they walked with their bare feet.

I think he rocks to the core! He's a good singer and he produce nice songs! Ok the main thing is that, he is born with heart attack, and its heredity. His sister past away because of heart attack in some time during 2006 or 2007. So he's also having heart attack and might be gone anytime. So lets just cherish this good singer before any thing happens to him, hopefully never. And there was one song in his new album which is very meaningful. Its called 如果我变成回忆, and its dedicated to his girlfriend. Try listening it.

Yesterday was out the whole day.. Morning to some food courts in at Bedok reservoir road, then in the afternoon, went to Tampines, then to Bugis to shop. At night, travelled to Orchard Road.

My dinner yesterday at 红锅. The food and is nice!

Hey people. I'll need to bare with it for this 3 weeks.. I can't sleep properly, do my homework properly and my routine is interrupted! Well, I do expected it already, because that kid, yeah my this cousin, is only 4 years old, and super naughty and noisy. No doubt he will make noise. I hardly able to take my nap just now.. I had to move into my parent's bed to sleep, cos he's going in and out of my room, running around with his slippers on, making noise, etc. any usual things that a young kid does.

Today's physics test. Sigh. Don't talk about it, I'll either fail, or pass barely. I seriously need to boost my physics man.. I'm gonna promise myself to do the physics TYS once I receive it.
About maths test, it was alright. Almost everyone's gonna get full mark, like what Mr. Ang always said. Cos during the test, he went out of the class for a short period of time, and we're all like talking across the classroom, confirming our answers. Lol! And Mr. Yong was cool.

Tomorrow, Bio test! Though there's only 2 lessons, there's still bio! There's already quite a lot of homework for the 2 days weekend and the 1 day public holiday. There's Chinese 公函, Social Studies SBQ, Biology TYS, Chemistry worksheet...

Moths as Human Souls

Our old cultural belief that passed down from generations may tell us that killing a moth will bring ill-luck because they are transformed from human souls. The guilt is on par with killing your own ancestors. Such old wives tales warn us to stay away from moth should it fly into our house for unknown reason. During Qing Ming or Hungry Ghosts Month, generally regarded as festivals of death, it would be common to have moths or butterflies appear in our home. Believers interpret this as a supernatural mechanism of human souls take physical forms of insect come visit the livings. Are these all just plain superstitions or having some elements of truth? SPI research and shed some light on this myth.

1.1 Why moths are more likely to be seen during Qing Ming and Hungry Ghost Months?

Legend has it that moth are human souls transformed. During Qing Ming and Hungry Ghost Festival, the souls will take the form of flying insects like butterflies and moths, to pay the living a visit. Indeed, moths and butterflies have been primarily described as physical manifestations of spirits that are visiting our homes. Spirits are believed to have either transmuted into a physical form or possessed a physical being. At times they might even land on the photo of the deceased and hide behind the photo frame reinforcing the idea that they are somehow connected to the deceased. Children are often warned not to disturb it or else ill-luck will come upon the family. Adults often set the example by leaving the moth alone, sometimes in fear and anxiety. Woe betides those who kill an insect that is actually a vessel of a soul. It is a crime that is nearly as grave as killing one's ancestors.

Is this supernatural tale a fact? Or is it a popular belief passed down through time? Does it have any connection with the shamanism or animalism? SPI investigated each element of the tale, in search for an explanation.

1.2 Chinese cultural origins of the myth

The belief that flying insects like moths and butterflies embodying a human soul has its origins in Taoist beliefs (Note: There is a distinction between religious Taoism and Taoist beliefs.) According to the Book of Transformation (), written by Tan Qiao of the Five Dynasties, it has 110 essays in 6 volumes about six forms of transformations: () Way Transformations, () Techniques Transformations, () Potency Transformations, () Humaneness Transformations, () Food Transformations, and () Frugality Transformations. Combining Taoist theory with Confucian thought, it holds that the world is rooted in the Emptiness. The Emptiness transforms into spirit, spirit into breath, breath into form, and form returns to the void. The void is the root and destiny of all things.

For example, a maple tree can transform turn into a human, wheat can turn into butterflies, a lady can turn into virgin rock, and earthworms into flower lilies. But it is likely that the scriptures were referring to a metaphysical and philosophical interpretation of the world around us rather than a literal one. Shamanic beliefs since the time of ancient China holds the mystical belief that the material and physical is interchangeable with spiritual beings. Observation in natural change of matters and life (birth to death, water to rain, e.g.) escalated into imagination of supernatural interchanges of animals and plants, rocks and substances. Using only observations and spiritual interpretations rather than scientific knowledge as their means to explain the world around them, many were convinced that shamanic beliefs hold the truth about how the world works.

In general, we suppose form-shifting is also popular in other ancient cultures. Chinese polytheism is one of the most fascinating systems of belief that carries a wide range of bizarre folk tales.

1.3 Popular symbolism of butterflies

In Chinese culture two butterflies flying together is a symbol of love. There is a famous Chinese folk story called Butterfly Lovers (), the Chinese version of Romeo and Juliet.

In Taoist philosophy, a Taoist philosopher called Zhuangzi once had a dream of being a butterfly flying about without any care or concern for the world, however when he woke up and realized it was just a dream. But the experience left a remarkable impact on him, making him ask himself, "Was I before a man who dreamt about being a butterfly, or am I now a butterfly who dreams about being a man?"

According to a chapter in Kwaidan titled "Butterflies" in Stories and Studies of Strange Things, by Lafcadio Hearn, a butterfly was regarded as the personification of a person's soul; whether they are living, dying, or already dead. One Japanese popular belief says that if a butterfly enters your guestroom and perches behind the bamboo screen, the person whom you most love is coming to see you. But while one butterfly is a sign of good things, a horde of butterflies are regarded viewed as ill omens. When Taira no Masakado was secretly preparing for his famous revolt, there appeared in Kyoto a vast a swarm of butterflies. The commoners were frightened believing that it butterfly swarm was a herald of evil.

The symbolism of butterflies is not only confined to the Eastern cultures. The Ancient Greek word for "butterfly" is (psyche), which primarily means "soul", "mind". According to Mircea Eliade's Encyclopedia of Religion, some of the Nagas of Manipur trace their ancestry from a butterfly. Other old cultures believed that butterflies symbolize rebirth. They took this idea from observing how a caterpillar transforms into a new being after being inside a cocoon for a period of time.

There is another myth of butterfly associating with a famous Taoist deity called "", Xuan Tian Shang Ti - High Heavenly Xuan God, which also takes other names such as Xuan Wu (), Di Gong () or Teh Kong in Hokkien dialect. The image of this deity is known as the dark lord of the north, in which the black color symbolizes North direction in the belief of the five elements. He was a warrior capable of powerful magic-craft and colloquially impersonalized the Big Diper, The seven brightest stars of the constellation Ursa Major in the Northern hemisphere, in the context of idol worship.

The legend was popular in Taiwan, that says one day Xuan Tian Shang Ti (XTSI) met a butterfly fairy when he was doing spiritual cultivation in Wudang Mountains for attaining his immortality. The butterfly transformed deliberately into a very beautiful girl and attempted to seduce XTSI in the hope of getting him to marry her. The plot was to test his mortal lustfulness and see whether he would abandon his religion.

By this legend, it is propagandised that a Taoist temple in Alishan, Taiwan, a mystical moth would fly into that temple, about a week before 3 March (lunar calendar) every year. Bear in mind that 3 March lunar date is right in Spring season where hibernation from Winter was over in the nature world. As incredible as it gets, the mystical moth is believed to come for celebrating the birthday of XTSI, it would stay in its temple till his birthday is over. This tale is quite consistent enough with the legend to make most folks believe it is real. In this episode, the butterfly fairy instead of transforming into a butterfly (why?), she becomes a moth, a local moth that is unique in the habitats of Alishan mountain regions. The appearance of such moth in the temple seems to support the legend of XTSI and to probably evangelise some religions.

Back from Gym alone.. Cycled to Tampines gym, and did gym there for 1 hour. After that, cycled back again. Saw Wen Xian on the way back..

My Aunt and her son, which is my cousin, are coming over to Singapore today, and they'll be staying over in my house for 2 weeks.. Ok now, my house will be even more crowded. lol. So I have to spend more time with them now for their visit now.. They'll be reaching at 8+ pm later~

The 311th post.

Today's PE lesson was awesome! I learned many new things :D
Though it was elective today, there was 3 choices for us. Gymnastic, badminton, mini tennis. Well, I chose gymnastics. I really didn't regret choosing it, because it was super duper fun! We did things like, hand stand, head stand, break fall, flip up, somersaults, etc. Those who haven't choose your elective yet, I recommend you to choose gymnastics! Its gonna be fun! NO regrets! We even took videos of what we did, but sadly mine corrupted. ZzZ.

Anyway, this week gonna have 5 tests! 2 Social studies test, 1 physics test, 1 biology test, 1 A-Maths test. So manyyyy!

I'm sleepy now. Gonna sleep. bye

Hey guys!

Let's talk about me today. Lol.
Ok, start from morning. Woke up @ 9am. At 10.30am, went to WhiteSands, Ya Kun, to have milk tea and coffee with parents. After which, went to NTUC to buy groceries. Saw quite a lot of people I know there. Jeremy Chong was one of them, hah! He was with his parents buying things too.
As usual, there was many things we bought and we had to carry them back. I took the most things of course, cos I'm a fillial son! :D Everytime I help my parent's carry things back from NTUC, sure carry until my shoulder tired one and pain one, including this time. Haha. Ok then backed home already.

At 4pm, went to cycle around Pasir Ris. I really cycled EVERYWHERE. Cycled along the Bus 81 way to Loyang Rise, Loyang View (those terraces). Wah this loyang damn hard to cycle one, up and down, up and down, need to use a lot of energy. Then there were some dogs which barked at me when I cycled past. I was thinking that when I grow up, I must buy one of these big houses. xD From here, I travelled back to Pasir Ris East CC again, Pasir Ris Crest Sec, Loyang Secondary, Hai Sing Sec Loyang Primary, Greenview Sec, Pasir Ris Pri, Whitesands Pri. Wow, there's quite a lot of primary and secondary schools in Pasir Ris area huh? I was comparing those schools' facilities with Coral Sec, lol!

Got bored with schools already. Cycled to the terraces which located beyond E-Hub. And guess what? I cycled to RED HOUSE! Went to the main gate. My second time visiting it again. Everything remained the same inside. Old and run down. Took pictues of the main entrance of it. Those pics are below. Then, cycled to Pasir Ris Park finally. Took a rest too. Ok, after that, went home, and reached home at 7pm. That's all for my cycling trip today! =D

At night, had some trimmings on my hair, because my hair's a bit too thick. And who's my hair stylist for this time? My mum! I trust my mum more than those outside, because at least she has lots of fashion sense, knows what I want, and will also listen to me what I wanna cut! Unlike some aunties outside who doesn't listen to you, and follow the school rules to cut =.= Cut slope, cut short, cut thin, cut til like I'm an idiot. I also don't know why schools like to make students cut the hair until so short.. Ok la, actually cut short nevermind la, but they cut short is like only one part short, the other parts long. Like that where got nice sia?? Don't have the layer effect anymore.. Lol..

Ok this time I cut quite a lot of hair already, so don't say I look like I didn't cut my hair, because now is a lot thinner than before already.

A meaningful Sunday indeed.

Ok. Its already Thursday again.. Yes, time flies again and again. Tomorrow will be Friday! And lessons tomorrow are super slack, PE, Maths, STARS, and USA!

Advantages of Friday, is that after that will be Saturday and Sunday, so we can rest.
On the other hand, the disadvantage, is that its also nearer to a new week again, which is the Monday, and then the cycle goes again and again...

There's no homework today, which means I'll be able to slack tonight! :D. Cool, like finally?

Ok I'm posting something about lightning and thunder cos its cool~

Lightning and Thunder

Lightning is the most spectacular element of a thunderstorm. In fact it is how thunderstorms got their name. Wait a minute, what does thunder have to do with lightning? Well, lightning causes thunder.

Lightning is a giant spark. A single stroke of lightning can heat the air around it to 30,000 degrees Celsius (54,000 degrees Farhenheit)! This extreme heating causes the air to expand at an explosive rate. The expansion creates a shock wave that turns into a booming sound wave, better known as thunder. Thus the name thunderstorm.

Lightning Formation

The sky is filled with electric charge. In a calm sky, the + and - charges are evenly interspersed thoughout the atmosphere. Therefore, a calm sky has a neutral charge.

Inside a thunderstorm, electric charge is spread out differently. A thunderstorm consists of ice crystals and hailstones. The ice crystals have a + charge, while the hailstones have a - charge. The ice crystals are pushed to the top of the thunderstorm cloud by an updraft. Meanwhile, the hailstones are pushed to the bottom of the thunderstorm by its downdraft. Thus, the thunderstorm's + and - charges are separated into two levels: the + charge at the top and the - charge at the bottom.

During a thunderstorm, the Earth's surface has a + charge. Because opposites attract, the - charge at the bottom of the thunder cloud wants to link up with the + charge of the Earth's surface.

Once the - charge at the bottom of the cloud gets large enough to overcome air resistance, a flow of - charge rushes toward the earth. This is known as a stepped leader. The + charges of the Earth are attracted to this stepped leader, so a flow of + charge moves into the air. When the stepped leader and the + charge from the earth meet, a strong electric current carries + charge up into the cloud. This electric current is known as the return stroke of lightning and is visible to the human eye.

Sound Waves Vs. Light Waves

You see a flash of lightning across the night sky. Five seconds later, your hear the rumble of thunder. If lightning and thunder come from the same source, then why don't they occur at the same time?

Actually, they do occur at the same time. The time difference that you sense is due to the way sound and light travel. Light travels extremely fast (300,000,000 m/s). In fact, it is faster than anything else. Sound travels at a measly 343 m/s through air. Therefore we can see light in an instant, but it takes a while to hear thunder.

Sound has another disadvantage because it tends to bounce off molecules in the air. This makes the sound travel in all different directions. The further away the source of the sound is, the more the sound gets distorted.

Therefore, when you hear rumbling thunder, the lightning bolt was far away. When you hear a crack or boom of thunder, the lightning bolt is close to you (<100 m).

Hey people! Well today I'm gonna talk about a tree.

This morning its raining cats and dogs. And you all heard only one thunder roar at around 10.45am right? The sound was quite loud, and guessed what, this lightning struck directly on this tree!!! Before it was struck, it was so beautiful like this.

After it was struck.. Can you imagine the lightning? The tree is so large and strong and yet, it can be cut easily by a lightning just like that.. Scary huh?! So the tree was struck by the lightning, it was cut, and the top fell onto a car and the car had some scratches or damages, not really sure. My mum's car is the black colour car in the picture, and its like so close to it! Almost got hit by the fallen trunks! Yeah and so after that, people came to cut off the tree...

Hello. Went out the whole day today... Damn tiring now la. Morning, Bio remedial from 10am to 11.30am. Then had basketball training 2pm-4pm. After that, went home and bathe then change, and continued to go for wen xian's bbq. The bbq quite fun, not bad. Wen Xian got squashed by cakes. xD Took many pictures too.. But they're not with me. Try visiting girl's blog.

Hey again. Backed from gym with RoyT. Yin Ze and Kenneth Tan was in the gym too, such a coincidence.

Before I go to gym...
Waited for RoyT at Macdonalds' outdoor seat. Then I sat there and wait.. Suddenly, I felt something poking me on my right leg, then I lifted it up and.. I saw a BEE! I immediately used my hand to make it away, but it already stung me -.- Like what the hell la! I didn't even disturb the bee, then it come and sting me.. ZzzZ Damn unlucky.. But also lucky in an unfortunate way.. Lucky that the bee isn't a poisonous one or like a big one such as a hornet.. Its just a small bee. The feeling is like a needle poking into my flesh.. I immediately squeezed the spot that got stung, cos I scared its poisonous ma.. Then after that I pulled the sting out..and squeeze the blood out just in case.. Got a little swollen after that, but now its alright already. Lol.. My first time getting stung by a bee seh...

If you have read the newspaper yesterday, you'll know that there will be a new sports hall and swimming complex in Pasir Ris!! Its gonna replace the Pasir Ris Park's lake! It can contain up to 2000 people inside! Cool huh? The construction will be starting in Dec 2009 and expected to complete by 2011!!

There's solar eclipse on 22nd July 2009, this coming Wednesday!! And look what I found on the internet:

THE eclipse of a lifetime takes place in July, and people here will get to see a small slice of the action.

During the July 22 solar eclipse, the Sun will be completely blacked out, and day will turn to night for six minutes - the longest eclipse this century.

Complete darkness will affect a swathe of land that will stretch across parts of India, Bangladesh, China and the Pacific Ocean, but which will be just 16km- to 32km-wide.

In Singapore, which is outside the band, the Sun will be partially cloaked.

A solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes in front of the Sun and blocks it.

While there are up to five eclipses a year, total eclipses are rare, happening in the same location once every 370 years and lasting mere seconds to minutes. The last one - which lasted about 21/2 minutes - was on Aug 1 last year.

The July eclipse will be partially visible in Singapore from 8.41am to 9.44am, peaking at 9.11am.

Seen from here, 10 per cent to 20 per cent of the Sun will be obscured because of the Moon's path in relation to Singapore's location.

To catch the sight in its full glory, a small band of eclipse-chasers from the Astronomical Society of Singapore will be travelling to the Chinese city of Wuhan, about 600km west of Shanghai, to view and photograph the spectacle.

And there's a prediction that there will be tsunami on the same day too..

Greetings people!

Morning, went to Crystal Jade Kitchen for brunch. After that, in the afternoon went to Pulau Ubin to strolling..Haha. But after we reached Pulau Ubin, it rained heavily.. So we waited for about 30 inutes for the rain to stop.. Walk one round around the lake. Then we sat for replenishment, a coconut.

There was a small beach, so we all played slice stones. Kept picking up stones and slice them! My record today is only 5 jumps~! Was quite fun slicing stones..Haha.

Kay I need to prepare for steamboat dinner tonight... Needa help out on slicing fishballs and sausages.. Bye~ Posting photos next time~!

Watched finish 学警狙击 today!! The plot was amazing~ fabulous~ interesting~ amusing~ shocking~ surprising~ astounding~ and whatever adjectives you can think of.

The drama is mostly about how the policeman became an inside man, and managed to get into the gang, to gain the trust of the boss, so that he can catch him red-handed...

Watching 学警雄心, total 32 episodes. Then followed by 学警出更, total 30 episodes. And lastly 学警狙击, total 30 episodes. Its like a series, 1,2 and 3. Its very popular, cos its very interesting and super nice. :D They're all Hong Kong Dramas!! Yeah, HK dramas rox!! I think I'm gonna take at least 2 months to finish watching!! Since I don't play any games now, shall watch these..

Hello~ I just watched finish this Hong Kong Drama called ID精英. DAMN NICE!! Its 26 episodes total!! The drama is considered new, only played finished in China's TV a week ago. So there's only the Cantonese version.. But there's still Chinese subtitles. The plot is super duper nice la. If you understand Cantonese, then you must really watch! If you don't, then nvm la you can also read the subtitles, or wait for the Mandarin Version to be out!!

Ok the next HK drama I'm gonna watch is... 学警狙击!!! Also another very interesting drama!!

How To Keep Your Brain In Top Shape.

Did you know that it's possible to keep you brain in great condition and help stave off aging illnesses? Here are some steps that will stimulate your whole brain that will help you learn better, be attentive, live longer, and become much smarter than the average human.

Read. Reading is food for your brain. Reading is one of the best things you could do for yourself and your brain. Start out reading one book per month. Then try two books a month, etc etc.
Exercise. Exercising releases different chemicals to your brain that you don't get from anything else, including Endorphins and growth hormones. When you exercise a particular part of your body, growth hormones for your muscles spread through your body to help rebuild that muscle to be stronger and bigger. The great thing about it is that it helps other muscles to be stronger too, and did you know that your brain is a muscle?
Sudoku. Playing the game sudoku keeps your brain sharp and mostly helps the left side of your brain, being the logic part. Sudoku keeps you sharp, awake, and keeps you sharp when you are old. Try playing one game of Sudoku (which is located in any newspaper) once a week.
Crossword Puzzle. Playing a crossword puzzle, like Sudoku, keeps you sharp but also helps you to recall things faster and remember things better. Try doing this once a week. You can find this in any newspaper.
Music. Music stimulates your brain in many ways. Learning a new instrument helps stimulate the entire right side of your brain. Piano is said, but not 100% proven, to stimulate your brain the most. That is why many parents play classical music to babies.
Language. There are many perks to being multi-lingual. Not only can you communicate with more people and understand culture better, but it has a great effect on your brain. It stimulates most of your right brain and some of your left brain. Learning a language that has no roots to your own language (like English to Chinese) benefits your left brain a little more. But learning a language with connective roots (like English to Spanish) helps stimulate your right brain more than your left. Imagine if you did both.

常州现有伍姓人口1700余人，占全市总人口的0.083%。按人口排列，位列第114位。

伍氏的源流可以追溯到远古的黄帝时代。据古籍《姓氏寻源》载：“黄帝臣伍胥与邓伯温论攻城克日者，宜为伍姓之始，先于伍参。”又云：“伍氏，芈姓，楚大夫伍参之后。”伍参的曾孙就是历史上名垂千古的助吴伐楚的伍子胥。伍氏源于楚地，望出安定郡（湖北漳县）、武陵郡（湖南溆浦）。宋人编《百家姓》伍姓为第 89位，列于“伍余元卜、顾益平黄”句。常州伍氏的辈份字行是“克鹏应玉义，君道廷昭钟，效世德贻谋”。

世居常州的伍姓，其远祖是楚大夫伍参，但其始迁祖却是从湖北松滋迁来。常州伍姓源于同一家族，历史上有两支伍姓子孙不约而同从外地徙居常州城乡，至今已达500余年历史。

据《毗陵伍氏宗谱》（民国十八年务本堂藏版，伍世璜主修）记载，常州伍氏的先世变迁如下：一世祖伍九思，字正已，生于宋初开宝年间（969—976），世居福建宁化；第三世孙伍又新迁居江西安福；第十三世孙伍希稷、伍希明同迁福建清流（泉州）；第十五世孙伍贯一因避明初建文帝之难迁居湖北松滋县九冈山；第十九世孙伍无违世居松滋县，由金陵上元县（江宁）始迁常州府武进县胥城里伍家浜（今武进马杭上店）；第二十世孙伍无违嫡侄伍心泉于明嘉靖年间（1558年前后）由松滋县始迁常州城内东下塘。

世居于湖北松滋的伍姓如何远迁吴地常州定居？其间有曲折的历史。据乾隆进士、常州人恽宗洵撰《毗陵伍氏胥城宗谱序》载：“至宋太祖开基宁化，有九思公为毗陵一派之祖，五传至仲成公，敕赐绍兴间进士，其子复享徙处清流，越元及明，忠公殉难（伍性忠，明初进士，殉建文帝之难），其子贯一复奔荆楚，居于松滋，二传弘化间（明弘治、成化年间），文定公登进士第，为兵部尚书，令第四子廷征（武举人）守棠邑大夫。一朝为奸屈陷，廷征子无违（克孝）避难三吴，毗陵之有伍氏从此始。”据谱载，伍文定生五子，长子廷辅、三子廷佑、五子廷献子孙仍居松滋。次子廷赞，明正德年间（1506—1521）武举人，赐进士为护军参领，生子克仁，嘉靖壬午科举人，克仁生二子，长子鹏冲与次子鹏举游学泰州，至扬州兄弟失散，鹏冲归泰州娶马氏夫人，遂入籍泰州。鹏举，字心泉，生于明嘉靖十六年（1537），与兄失散后渡江至常州，后定居于城内成全巷，晚岁迁居东下塘，配西营刘氏夫人，生四子：禹年、有年、文年、庆年，世居常州城内，其中第三子文年后世迁居宜兴城内。

两支伍姓在明代正德、嘉靖年间（1530年前后）迁入常州后，至今已近500年，伍氏子孙或散居常州城乡，或远迁他地，主要支派有：第二十二世孙伍皋鸣在明万历年间（1560年前后）由胥城里迁荒田里（今武进马杭凌道村）；第二十四世孙伍永贞于明崇祯年间（1630前后）迁居石桥里（今遥观通济村）；伍子歧迁居河北彭家村（今马杭东风村）；伍子晋迁居前头何家村（今马杭勤胜村）；伍君美迁居横巷里（今庙桥新联村）；第二十五世孙伍建极于清康熙年间（1670年前后）迁居坝头村（今遥观渔庄村）；第二十八世孙伍钟惜、伍钟全于嘉庆初年迁居泰兴广陵镇，伍钟岱迁居城东上新村；第二十九世孙伍效经于道光年间（1840年前后）迁居无锡西门马家村；第三十世孙伍世勋、伍世义、伍世聚于光绪年间由常州城内同迁大宁乡马岸（今焦溪后横沟村前、后马岸村），伍世伦、伍世襄、伍世起同迁浙江绍兴城内，伍世琛迁居武昌沅水巷；第三十一世孙伍德麟、伍德求于光绪年间由城内迁居城南鸣凰镇，伍湛卿迁居浙江平湖县城，伍汉槎因官于光绪末迁居北京。此外，太平天国战争结束后，清军湘军、淮军中有少数湖广籍、安徽籍伍姓军卒入籍常州，尤以武进西乡为多，100多年来，有的已繁衍成伍姓村落，今居于湖西岸的伍姓不少即是湘淮军人后裔。

历史上，常州伍姓知名人士有：伍宇昭（1736—1819），字青望，号止斋，少擅吟咏，长从宜兴硕儒史承豫、储国钧学，攻诗40年，诗名重于世，曾游学齐鲁10余年，所作古文得韩柳笔意，著有《舣舟集》、《毗陵伍氏合集》等；伍继勋，字次荪，幼聪敏，有经世才，道光八年（1828）入曾国藩幕，为胡林翼调办军务，以劳绩荐为知县、直隶州知府、汉阳知府等职，同治年间檄修鄂省江、天门等县堤工，在鄂40余年，始治兵，继治政，又治水，颇著劳绩，年64卒于老河口衙内，著有《兴山县志》等；伍达（1880-1913），城区人，光绪年间秀才，初任常州武阳劝学所总董，任上增设小学堂百余所，为常州发展初等小学奠定基础，后派往日本考察学务，民国初受教育总长蔡元培之请，至南京国民政府教育部规划社会教育，袁世凯迁都北京后，绝意仕途，以发展社会教育为己任，于上海发起成立中华全国通俗教育研究会，刊印《通俗教育研究录》，风行一时，终以经费缺乏，独力支撑艰辛，以致心力交瘁，未几病卒，年仅34岁；伍琢初（1864—1928），名世玑，号卓周，城区人，为常州伍氏第三十世孙，早年随父在湖北省治理洪涝，后被保荐为知县、知府，政绩尤以治水为显著。后督办京汉铁路南段，创建汉口警察局，襄理汉阳铁厂和锰矿事务，业绩突出。光绪末调江苏负责江淮水灾赈务，民国后归里，服务于地方公益事业，历任武进红十字会会长，创办贫儿院、贫民工场，1928年常州城内拓宽马路，他捐资银洋5000元建南直街桥，邑人以其名“琢初”为桥名，即今和平南路琢初桥。又捐资在青果巷内凿伍氏义井，为居民解决用水，邑人称其为“琢井”。常州伍姓多书画家，著名者有：伍振藩、伍受真等。

常州现代伍姓多科学、社会学、工程学界英才：伍小平，女，力学家，中科院院士、工程院院士，中国科技大学工程科学院院长、教授、博士生导师，为我国实验力学领域学科带头人；伍理，城区北后街人，华东师范大学人口研究所主任，研究员，长期从事区域经济、人口生态和人口地理研究，为经济发展和社会进步做了大量工作，在学术界有很大影响；伍荣冠，城区人，历任交通部第三航务局设计院处长、院长、三航局局长、总工程师等职，参加设计和建造数十座港口和大型码头。

常州伍姓聚居地在城区有东下塘（此处原有伍氏宗祠）、西下塘、西瀛里、白云渡、成全巷、青云坊、青果巷等地。在乡村主要聚居地有：马杭、鸣凰、遥观、焦溪、湖塘、东安、九里等地。马杭有两个伍家村，九里有两个伍家塘，东安有伍巷，礼嘉有伍家桥村，成章有伍家塘村。

Lets start with... morning!

My father asked me to go and drink coffee with him at 8am today. Lol. Everyone's still sleeping like a pig. So, only two of us went. We decided to go to central for coffee. Ya Kun will not open so early so we went there instead.

Back at 10. My mum woke up already. But my bro, 11 plus then wake up. Then my mum call me to go and drink with her again. Lol! This time we went to Ya Kun. But I didn't drink anything, cos I already had one just now!

Skip to night bah. We had steamboat! Its quite fun once in a while. Usually we would eat steamboat about once in a while, and I quite like it, feels more delicious because we get to cook ourselves. This time the steamboat is Chilli. Last time was porridge steamboat, also very nice. After steamboating everything, esp. after the vegetables, the porridge will be damn nice la.

Ok up till here first. Tmr gonna do Bio project with group on Chek Jawa.

Hey guys~!

Took height and weight today! Gained 3kg, and grew 1cm. Now its 167cm, and 54kg. I'm only 90%.. I think I need to gain about 2kg more. I feel that I'm too skinny. Lol.. Not enough muscles~

Anyway, here's some info for those who wanna lose weight :D.

Dieting Without Hunger

Hunger is a major barrier if you're trying to drop a few kilos. Instead of simply eating less while dieting, try to stock up on foods that fill you up for a small amount of calories. Low-density foods are typically high in water and fibre.

Follow these six easy tips:
Stock up on veggies. Eat plenty of leafy greens, lettuce, tomatoes, green beans, squash and onions. Don't like the taste? Stash them in stews, soups, pasta sauces, pizza or meatloaf. They're high-volume, high satisfaction, low-calorie superstars.
Limit dry foods. Avoid crackers and chips. Dry foods lack water and can pack a lot of calories into a small portion.
Water works. Aim for half of your total fluid intake to come from plain water. IF you want to make things more interesting, try soda and sparkling mineral waters, diet soft drinks or herbal teas. Remember, too, that fresh fruit and veggies contain lots of water - another reasonto stock up on them.
Say yes to starters. Sensible entrees plough into your appetite, so should lower the energy density of your main meal. Choose vegetable soups or a garden salad with low-fat dressing.
Load up on protein. There's plenty to choose from in this food group, including lean red meat, poultry, fish, eggs, dairy, beans, soy and grains. Protein makes you feel full for longer, having a limiting effect on the amount of other foods you eat.
Wholegrain goodness. At least half your breads and cereals should contain wholegrains.

What To Eat To Gain Weight

Increasing your intake of junk foods and greasy foods is not a good way to gain weight. Junk foods usually contain unhealthy trans fats or saturated fats. Even though you need to increase your calorie consumption to gain weight, those calories should come from foods that are good for you.

Healthy fats include omega-3 essential fatty acids sources like tuna, salmon, flax, and walnuts. Good sources of protein include lean meats, fish, poultry, nuts, seeds and legumes. Healthy carbohydrate sources include fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

It may be easier to eat five or six smaller balanced meals per day rather than eating three large meals, especially if you are not used to eating much at one sitting.

Protein powders and nutritional supplement drinks such as Ensure can be added as in-between meal snacks if you still need more calories. Some protein powders are flavored and only need added water and some others can be blended with your choice of juice or milk to improve the taste.

It would also be a healthy idea to add a small amount of flax seed oil and some psyllium powder to add some omega-3 essential fatty acids and extra fiber.

Dietary Supplements and Gaining Weight

A high-quality multivitamin and mineral supplement is a good idea to make sure you are getting all of the vitamins and minerals you need. Some people find that their muscle mass increases with protein supplements that contain certain blends of amino acids such as creatine and glutamine. Some people who are very ill may need liquid nutritional preparations that are available through their doctors.

Resistive Exercise To Gain Weight

Exercise is also important for healthy weight gain. Resistance training exercises such as lifting weights will help to increase your muscle size. Aerobic exercises such as running and stationary bicycling are better for fat loss and excessive aerobic training may cause you to lose more weight. Resistance training can be done at a health club, gym or at home with the proper equipment.

Remember that it can take a while to gain the weight you need, but be patient and continue to choose healthy foods until you reach your goal weight.

Hey guys. Today is Wednesday. Obviously.

Lessons were alright today.
Had been playing this online game called Dragonica, recently. The game's quite nice, I would say. But to some people, it may seem stupid. Yes, it's you. Haha. But even though the game is nice, I can't always play it right? Still have to do other things, because I'm not someone who likes to get engrossed into the virtual world. More straight forward, its called game-freak. Yeah. I don't like to be one. So I will only play it for leisure, and entertainment. But don't worry, because I will still surpass you guys. :D HaHaHaHa!!!

I'm doing homework now..Literature reviewing, on some birds' stuffs.. Birds conservation. I feel like watching dramas after that..

Hey guys. Today was the first day of school, and also the start of term 3. Had a new maths teacher instead of Mr Chew. Now its Mr Ang. Also, there's a new trainee teacher for Biology, she's also called Miss Chan. Haha, we were all planning to greet Miss Chanssss, but the old Miss Chan told us to greet them as teachers..Hahaha...

After school, went to watch transformers 2. It was nice and cool!!! Haha!! You all gotta catch it if possible.. Its quite a good movie, 2h 30mins.

Ok no homework for today. My parent's bought a new 47" LCD TV.. LG's the brand. Cost quite cheap for a 47" TV, only $1799 if I'm not wrong. The old one had a bit of a problem on the screen, a white patch..
